God Bless our beloved Kathy Slesinksi
December 4, 1974 – March 6, 2014

Our Cat Groomer, and long time friend Kathy Slesinski passed away on March 6th, 2014 after a courageous, life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Kathy was 39 years young.

Kathy was born on Dec. 14, 1974, in Rochester to Gary and Jean (Peterson) Slesinski. She graduated from Mayo High School in 1993 and has been alongside her high school sweetheart, Amos Kroening, since that time.

Many of our clients only knew her as Kathy the cat groomer, but to us she was so much more. Kathy was someone who loved life and lived every day to the fullest. Every day was a challenge for her because of her disease -- even then she was always positive, upbeat, and smiling. Her love for animals, especially cats, was amazing! The only thing she loved more was the love of her life, her soul mate, Amos Kroening who had stood by her side since 1990. Even when Kathy was really sick and feeling terrible, she always had a smile on her face, always with the attitude that things could be worse. The glass, always half full with Kathy.

You go thru life meeting all types of people – but very few people touch your heart like Kathy did! Kathy was someone with unshakable steadfast faith, one who truly appreciated every day, one who never took anything for granted, one who cared for all, one who would do anything for a friend, and one who was so blessed to have such an amazing soul mate who took care of her until the end. She went thru so much just to carry on each day -- the constant doctor visits, regular hospitalizations, the surgeries, the vast amounts of medications, the strict diet, the daily treatments, etc. Year, after Year, after Year. You don’t realize how much you take your health, and the health of your family for granted, until you see what someone with Cystic Fibrosis fight every day just to keep breathing. Certainly the strongest and bravest woman we’ve ever known.{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3C%2Fhs%3Aelement4%3E%20%2D%2D%3E{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3Chs%3Aelement11%3E%20%2D%2D%3E{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3C%2Fhs%3Aelement11%3E%20%2D%2D%3E{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3Chs%3Aelement12%3E%20%2D%2D%3E{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3C%2Fhs%3Aelement12%3E%20%2D%2D%3E{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20%3Chs%3Aelement13%3E%20%2D%2D%3E
Cystic Fibrosis is a chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States, and about 70,000 people worldwide. A defective gene and its protein product cases the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and obstructs the pancreas stopping the natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. With today’s advances in research and medical treatment, life expectancy of people with CF have extended into their 30’s and 40’s. Kathy turned 39 three months before she passed away.
We are certain of one thing – we were blessed to have known her as a friend for all these years -- and heaven gained an amazing angel in 2014.  Someday we will all see her beautiful smile once again!!! We love you Kathy!! You will be dearly missed, and never forgotten!!
